What is Style Birmingham?
Style Birmingham is a campaign showcasing the best of Birmingham city centre's offer. The campaign spans national press and online advertising, plus regional outdoor and TV advertising. Furthermore, the campaign has its own magazine, website and a stunning live fashion event.
What are the campaign's aims?
Style Birmingham aims to position Birmingham as a leading lifestyle destination and change outdated perceptions of the city.
Who is the campaign for?
The campaign is intended to appeal to everyone interested in fashion and style of any age.
So is it just about shopping?
No. Although shopping is obviously a major part of the campaign, Style Birmingham includes all that is stylish within the city centre including bars, restaurants, coffee shops and hotels.
Why does Birmingham need Style Birmingham?
If people come into the city to shop they will also visit our events and museums, eat in our restaurants and stay in our hotels. The ultimate aim is to create prosperity for the city and a a-feel-good factor amongst Birmingham people about the city in which they live, work and play. We want to shout out about the fact that Birmingham has fabulous shopping and a great city centre with top restaurants and chic hotels.
Is it just about designer labels?
No, contemporary style is very eclectic and more about individual choice than designer labels. Today's style-conscious consumers are not afraid to mix high street with their labels. It's about having the choice to create your own individual style, which Birmingham can certainly provide.
Who are the key stakeholders?
The idea for Style Birmingham came from the Retail Birmingham forum within the Birmingham City Centre Partnership. Retail Birmingham represents all stores, hotels and restaurants within the immediate city centre. The marketing campaign is operated by Retail Birmingham in partnership with Marketing Birmingham
What is a BID?
A Business Improvement District or BID is a precisely defined geographical area within which the businesses have voted to invest collectively in additional local projects and services to enhance their trading performance and environment.
