However hard it is to admit it, Christmas is really about the kids. And let's be honest - one of the best bits about the festive season is seeing the latest toys to bring a smile to their wee faces. Here's Style Birmingham's guide to the top ten children's presents this year that promise not to disappoint.
1: Woolworths has heaps of dressing up ideas to keep the kids entertained from Boxing Day and beyond.
2: WHSmith's has a buy one get one free offer on annuals, so make your choice from the likes of The Beano, Ben 10 and Dr Who or Hannah Montana and High School Musical, with prices starting from £6.99.
3: Spike really is the ultimate dinosaur - he can walk forward, turn left and right, open its mouth, blink its eyes, stand up on its hind legs and even throw a boulder. Priced at £125 from Early Learning Centre, when the dad's see this one the kids won't get a look in.
4: Every girl's dream is to have her own pony – and at least this one doesn't need mucking out. A bester-seller at The Entertainer, Bullring, is the FurReal Friends Butterscotch Pony, on special offer at £199.99.
5: Go back to the more traditional gifts with this Dangerous Books for Boys Marble Games. It costs £4 from Marks & Spencer and makes a great stocking filler.
6: It's the big Christmas release and there's heaps of movie merchandise to keep even the most ardent fans happy. Get you WALLE DVD from entertainment stores across the city, while toys are available from the Disney store and Argos.
7: From the Rosie's World range, this groovy camper van comes complete with the doll (her name's Summer). From Early Learning Centre, the set costs £20.
8: Cutesy and cuddly – Mamas & Papas has a great range of toys for the youngest members of the family.
9: Every child loves cuddling up with a favourite soft toy, and these Christmas bears are adorable. From TK Maxx, they cost £19.99 (stock may vary from store to store).
