The Pavilions is putting its support behind World AIDS Day by staging a special exhibition to showcase some of the region's finest artists.
Work by students from Birmingham City University's School of Art and Halesowen College, alongside artists from Art Pride and Work Artist Group, will be on display as part of Positively RED. It will run from Saturday November 29 until Saturday December 6 and aims to raise awareness of HIV in Birmingham and raise fund for the city's HIV Hardship Fund.
The exhibition will be on the shopping centre's lower ground floor, near the entrance to Marks & Spencer food hall. It will include photography, paintings, mixed media, sculpture and digital images and will end with a silent auction for prospective buyers to purchase pieces, the proceeds from which will all be donated to World AIDS day, which is held annually on December 1.
Dan Auluk, curator and final year student at the BCU School of Art, said "This year's art exhibition and silent auction focuses on the theme of celebration. We aim to celebrate the lives of those people living with or affected by HIV. Our main aim is to raise money for the HIV Hardship Fund as well as raising awareness of HIV in a positive and creative way."
Claire Johnson of Pavilions added: "Pavilions is proud to be associated with Positively RED and to give this space to such a worthy cause. The unique exhibits donated for auction by these Midlands students and their peers are excellent and we are pleased to be able to help World AIDS Day stage such a positive event."
