Looking the part is certainly important when you are facing a home-town audience of 300 fashion VIPs. And for soul sensation Bryn Christopher there was only one place to be kitted out in the very latest designer gear.
The Great Barr singer was last week announced as the lead artist to perform at this year's Style Awards. This week he met up with stylists from Harvey Nichols to help chose an outfit for the gala evening on Thursday October 23.
Opting for a Gucci suit, Paul Smith shirt and D&G tie, the musician described his own sense of style as smart casual. "Dressing well has always been important to me. I especially love wearing suits, but I am just as comfortable in jeans," he said. "To me, style is about being comfortable in what you are wearing.
"Birmingham is such a multicultural city, there are so many styles here from so many different cultures that it has evolved into such a stylish place.
He said he was "extremely excited" about performing at the Style Awards. "I love performing and being on stage and it is great to be doing such an important gig in my home town."
At just 22, Bryn has already toured with Amy Winehouse and appeared at Glastonbury, as well as many other major UK festivals. He has just been nominated for 'Best UK Newcomer' at the MOBO Awards 2008 which take place at Wembley Arena on October 15.
He released his Top 20 debut album My World to critical acclaim, while his first single The Quest – written by Bryn about his brother leaving home to serve with the British armed forces in Iraq – was quickly picked up by American TV prime-time show Greys Anatomy.
